Detroit Tigers Former Player Dave Bergman
When you think about the Detroit Tigers’ magical 1984 season, only one thing comes to mind: Hard-working, blue-collar team. The 1984 Tigers cruised to a franchise-record 104 victories, besting their previous record of 103 set in 1968. Starting off at a 35-5 pace, they easily won the division by a staggering 15 games over the Toronto Blue Jays. One player on that team was Dave Bergman. He played in the majors for 19 years, nine with Detroit. Bergman also had stints with the New York Yankees, Houston Astros and the San Francisco Giants before he was traded to Detroit along with pitcher Wille Hernandez..

2012 Draft Interview – Arizona Kurt Heyer – Drafted Sixth Round #210 by St. Louis Cardinals
Kurt Heyer is a junior, right-handed pitcher for the Arizona Wildcats known for his supreme control, durability and advanced mound presence. He has been one of the top college pitchers in the country this season, going 9-2 with a 2.28 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 85 K/15 BB over 102.2 innings for the 17th-ranked team in the nation. He was recently named to the watch list for the Golden Spikes Award, given out annually to the top collegiate player in the country, and has been the team’s Friday night starter since day one of his freshman season. Kurt was also just named the PAC-12 Pitcher of the Week.

2012 Draft Interview – Joey Gallo – Drafted Supplemental First-Round by Texas Rangers
Joey Gallo is arguably the top power hitter in the 2012 draft. At 6’-5” and 220 pounds, the left-hander is currently rated the number-five high school prospect by Keith Law at ESPN and is a lock to be selected in the first round. After hitting 25 home runs in just 121 at-bats as a junior for powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Reno, Nevada, he is hitting .514 with 21 home runs and 80 RBI through 38 games this season. Over his 155 game career, he is hitting .468 with 66 home runs, 250 RBI and a 1.618 OPS.

2012 Draft Interview – Avery Romero – Drafted Third Round # 104 by Miami Marlins
Avery Romero is a 6’-1”, 195-pound shortstop from Pedro Menendez HS in Florida. He is ranked among the top-50 players in the nation by Keith Law at ESPN and has a commitment to play his college ball at the University of Florida. Aside from his talents, he is known for being extremely coachable with his strong work ethic and competitiveness. He was a member of the U18 Team Puerto Rico at the 2011 Pan Am Championships, and he also finished third at the annual Perfect Game Power Showcase held at Chase Field as a junior.

2012 Draft Interview – Rock Rucker – Drafted
Rock Rucker is a 6’-5”, 220-pound left-hander from Russell County HS in Alabama. He is one of the top prep players in the country and is projected as a possible first-round draft pick in the 2012 MLB amateur draft to be held June 4-6. A two-way player, he is 7-0 on the mound with a 0.76 ERA and 70 strikeouts over 36.2 innings, while allowing just eight hits. At the plate, he is hitting .382 with 13 doubles, eight home runs, 41 RBI and a 1.177 OPS over 40 games. His fastball touches 95 mph and his overall athleticism makes him one of the better long-term prospects with a very high ceiling.

2012 Draft Pick – Tyler Pike – Seattle Mariners
Tyler Pike is a left-handed pitcher out of Winter Haven, Florida, who was a third-round selection by the Seattle Mariners in the 2012 MLB draft after going 18-3 with a 0.70 ERA and 257 strikeouts over 160 innings during his junior and senior years at Winter Haven HS. He was one of the most dominant players in the draft in his first pro season as he went 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 57 strikeouts over 50.2 innings for the Arizona League Mariners. On August 8, he tossed a five inning no-hitter.
