Taking a look around the league, here’s a recap of last night’s action and suggestions for your fantasy baseball team.
The big news of yesterday, and quite possibly of the season as far as fantasy baseball is concerned, was about the tear in Matt Harvey’s elbow. It has been a joy to watch Matt Harvey this season and this news just sucks. He is, without question, done for the season. Whether or not Harvey requires Tommy John surgery puts his entire 2014 season in doubt. With fantasy, I have no problems holding onto a keeper for a year if you have to, as long as you have a DL spot he can slide into for the duration. Burning a bench spot would be a more difficult call. If someone is willing to give you decent value for Harvey, then by all means, take the trade.

- The hits just keep coming for the Mets team. Jeremy Hefner will undergo Tommy John surgery after partially tearing his MCL.
- Good news for Matt Moore owners as he is set to rejoin the rotation next Tuesday.
- Dan Uggla is set to make a rehab start and could be back in the lineup before the season ends.
Prospect Watch – Is Erik Johnson the next call-up for the Chicago White Sox? He has been quite impressive in his stint with the triple-A Charlotte Knights, going 3-1 with a 1.59 ERA. With September call-ups looming, Chicago might turn to its best pitching prospect, Johnson, to see what it has with this young pitcher.
Head-2-Head– My how the mighty have fallen. Jeff Locke was the fantasy darling of the first half, but in the second half, he has been nothing more than a fantasy bum. He seems like the obvious choice here with a favorable matchup against the Brewers, but I would stay away. I don’t like the word “fatigued” being thrown around when I am selecting a streamer, and that is what is happening with Locke. Instead, Jose Quintana should be the man you turn to today.
