Pick ‘Em and Rank ‘Em: Rank 20 players win the prize

Tarnation! Sports and TTFB will partner up on the first ever Pick ‘Em and Rank ‘Em contest which nets the winner a prize from our sponsor. Tarnation! Sports will give the winner a free shirt of choice from their website, which launches July 24. They have a wide variety of T-shirts, and not just for baseball. So, if you don’t fancy baseball shirts, you have a big selection to choose from at Tarnation! Sports.

So, what’s this contest about and who is running it?

It’s about be fun and we are!

We provide a list of 20 players, and you have to rank them in an order of how you think they will perform based on a point system. The point system for determining scores is listed below, and each player’s points will be tallied daily. The contest will run for five days. At the end of the last game on the fifth day, the 20 players will be ranked by total points they accumulated over those five days.

Are you still with us? Oh, and did we mention only hitters are eligible?

Your goal is to rank these players, and whoever guesses the correct places for the most players will win the prize. As of now, only the winner gets the prize. None of this two wild cards and then a one game playoff stuff …

For example, at the end of a hypothetical contest, here’s the final tally based on the point system:

1. Pujols – 15
2. Fielder – 12
3. Upton – 11
4. Braun – 10

Say you guessed the order of top point-getters would be:

1. Fielder
2. Pujols
3. Upton
4. Braun

You would have received two points for picking the correct slots of two players — Upton and Braun. Got it? It’s like that but with 20 players.

Here’s the point system:

Singles (1B) 1 Doubles (2B) 2
Triples (3B) 3 Home Runs (HR) 5
Walks (BB) 1 Runs Scored (R) 1
Runs Batted In (RBI) 1 Stolen Bases (SB) 1
Strikeouts (K) -2 Intentional Walks (IBB) 1
Hit by Pitch (HBP) 1 Game Winning RBI (GWRBI) 2
Caught Stealing (CS) -2 Ground into Double Plays (GIDP) -2
Hitting for the Cycle (CYC) 15 Grand Slam Home Runs (GSHR) 5
Outfield Assists (OFAST) 1 Errors (E) -2

That’s it. Now get moving.

Results are in! Below is the spreadsheet with the points of the players:

@fizzle_ wins with five out of 20 correct guesses. The only person closer was two others with two out of 20! Yikes! Perhaps next time we’ll make it easier.
