It is the beginning of December and the Hot Stove is heating up! The latest rumor has the Boston Red Sox being in play to trade for Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp.

Kemp would bring more star power to the World Champs and most likely would become the No.3 hitter in Boston’s lineup, but one major obstacle could get in the way. That is the fact the Red Sox most likely would have to pay a good portion of the $130 million still owed to Kemp by the Dodgers.

For the Dodgers, the move would allow them to move forward with the outfield in place that led them to the playoffs last season. Second-year stud Yasiel Puig would continue to be the foundation for the Dodgers, and, by clearing up some of the money owed to Kemp, the team could look elsewhere for more offensive help.  The Dodgers proved they could win without Kemp last season, and now might be the best time to get a high-value prospect in return from the Red Sox.

When Kemp stays healthy, he is one of the best players in baseball. He is a five-tool player who could positively influence any lineup in baseball.  Still, there are questions if we have seen the best Kemp has to offer and that he may be on the downslide of his career.

I believe Matt Kemp has many good years left, and a move for him would make the Red Sox a powerhouse for years to come.
