It’s that time of the year when the hot stove begins burning. Teams are looking to add depth to help increase their chances for the postseason. Many players are rumored to be on the market, but one significant name is Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story. Story, 28 has spent his career in Denver and the Rockies still are on the fence about letting him go. He is batting .242 with 12 home runs and 46 RBI’s through 85 games of play. Story also was a participant in the 2021 Home Run Derby, at his home field, Coors Field. In the last year of his contract with the Rox’s, they are ready to move on. Brendan Rodgers is receiving a sufficient amount of playing time since his return from injury. Rodgers could be the potential shortstop of the future. The Rockies also have Ryan McMahon, who can play any infield position except short. Josh Fuentes mans the hot corner, while C.J. Cron has had a turnaround season with the Rockies. The Colorado Rockies, currently 4th in the NL West Division hold a record of 43-56. Ahead of them in the standings are the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Diego Padres. All three teams will be looking to add players for a shot this postseason. Colorado will be looking to add pieces for their ball club's future. Among teams looking to send veterans out, here are some teams who could have a shot landing Trevor Story. According to Jon Heyman via Twitter, he tweets, “Yankees made a trade offer for Trevor Story. No evidence of any traction there at this point. The Rockies haven’t definitively decided to trade him, though it would seem there’s a good chance they do." It will take a lot of talent to land Trevor Story, but the Yankees might have the pieces to get the deal finished. Essentially, the Yankees would be able to move Gleyber Torres to 2B, and moving LeMahieu over to 1B with Luke Voit injured. Other teams who could be in the running for Story are the Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Athletics, New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, or the San Diego Padres. The New York Yankees don’t have a strong farm system, but some of their prospects have the potential to sprout in a different organization. The Rockies might have to give up more than just Story to get a deal done, but anything could be possible within the next few days. Story would be able to reunite with former teammate, D.J. LeMahieu as both played together in Colorado when Story was a rookie. The MLB Trade Deadline is July 30th, ending at 4 pm EST. Anything can happen within the next couple of days and it will be a true frenzy to witness. Which team will end up trading for Trevor Story?
