Fantasy Daily: Corey Kluber, Colby Rasmus, Wil Myers

Wil Myers waits on a pitch.
Wil Myers makes his major-league debut tonight for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Taking a look around the league, here’s a recap of last night’s action and suggestions for your fantasy baseball team.

Mr. Clutch (pitcher) Corey Kluber was simply fantastic for those that deployed him last week. He pitched in two stellar games, combining for 16 innings pitched while allowing only one earned run. He kicked off your week with an eight-inning affair, giving up six hits, one earned run, three walks and three strikeouts in a winning effort against Texas. He finished your week with an eight inning effort, seven hits, no runs, no walks, and eight strike outs against the Nationals. Kluber’s next start is against the Twins, so be sure to ride this wave while it’s high. Kluber owns a 5-4 record, with 65 strikeouts and a 3.58 ERA for the Indians this year.

Mr. Clutch (hitter) Colby Rasmus, with a .251 average with 13 home runs on the year, has homered in three straight games for the Blue Jays. He also managed to score six times and deliver six RBIs over during the weekend. All while managing only three hits. Talk about making the hits matter.

Surprise, surprise! Wilin Rosario connected on another home run last night against the Phillies, going 2-for-4 with a solo shot. He’s 6-for-9 in his last three games but owns a .257 average with 11 long balls on the year.

Here comes the heat Matt Joyce has an 11-game hit streak going and is batting over .400 in that span. He’s connected on four long balls as well and owns an impressive .270 average with 14 home runs, 31 runs batted in and six steals on the year.

Left out in the breeze Adam LaRoche, fresh off an eight-game hitting streak, has gone into the icebox as of late. He’s 0-for-15 in his last four games with eight strikeouts.

Who’s trending? – How can I leave Wil Myers off this? He’s been picked up 43.6 percent of leagues this weekend and will make his major-league debut tonight! From RotoWire.com:

In a move that many have been waiting for, Wil Myers is set to make his major league debut in either game of Tuesday’s doubleheader and figures to see regular duty in the outfield. Wil Myers has followed up last year’s 2012 Minor League Player of the Year campaign with only slightly less impressive numbers, boasting excellent power and a good batting eye at the plate. His addition could be exactly what the Rays need to make a run at the AL East crown.

Bench me, please? Jon Lester had a terrible week last week, laboring through two starts against the Rays and Orioles. He pitched a total of 9.2 innings, allowing 12 earned runs, seven walks and only 11 strike outs. Things won’t get any easier as he faces the powerhouse Tigers next.

The Streamer  Shelby Miller will look to rebound off his last start, where the Mets tagged him for four runs over six innings. He did strike out 10 in that start and 26 in the last three games. I look for him to dominate the Cubs tonight.
