The Giants have traded Cory Gearrin, Austin Jackson and RHP Jason Bahr to the Rangers for a player to be named later or cash. Top prospect Ray Black and Steven Duggar get the call as the a result.
Cory Gearrin has a 4.20 ERA over 30 innings of relief for the Giants. Gearrin is due 1.67 MM this year.
Austin Jackson is hitting .242/.309/.295 over 149 at bats in limited action for the Giants.
Jason Bahr is 6-4 at Single A with a 2.75 ERA in 13 starts. He is not considered a top prospect. He was drafted in the 5th round of the 2017 draft.
Ray Black, drafted in the 7th round of the 2011 draft, has a 2.84 ERA over AA and AAA stops this year. In 32 games, he’s struck out 52 batters.
Steven Duggar, drafted in the 6th round of the 2015 draft, is batting .272/.354/.421 with four home runs, 27 doubles in 316 at bats. He presumably takes over the position for Austin Jackson.
