For months, we’ve heard so many rumors regarding Arizona Diamondbacks’ outfielder Justin Upton that it’s hard to keep any one of them straight. One day, it seems, the Rangers might be getting closer or doing more to make a deal happen, another day Arizona is scoffing at their offer, taking their ball and going home.

On Wednesday afternoon, the rumors surfaced again, this time it had Upton joining his brother, B.J. Upton, in Atlanta with the Braves. While there’s been no official names thrown out there, all indications are the deal is in the hands of the Diamondbacks and their general manager, Kevin Towers.

After getting wind of the rumors, B.J. took to Twitter, “Wow these [Justin Upton] rumors have me excited. Please don’t tease me like this… Would be a dream come true if it happens.”

First, the Harbaugh brothers, Jim and John, will face each other in the Super Bowl, now the chance two others brothers could join forces on one team in Major League Baseball. Though it wouldn’t be the first time, Andy and Adam LaRoche played together as members of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Earlier this week, CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman released the Rangers’ supposed offer for Upton, though most believe it was leaked by Arizona to force Atlanta to re-think the players they were offering. Towers is a smart general manager, as he was during his days with the San Diego Padres, and he’s going to hold out for the best possible offer.

As for the ship that seemed so close to docking in Arlington, it has apparently untied its lines and begun it’s trek east to Atlanta. Whether or not Texas wants to try and captain its own ship to chase down the USS Justin Upton, they may be left standing at the dock and watching it disappear into the sunset.
