Texas Rangers Podcast: Alex Rios, Nelson Cruz and the road to the World Series

Alex Rios gets ready to hit.

Will Alex Rios be enough to help Texas fans forget about Nelson Cruz? (Thomas Campbell/USA TODAY Sports)

This Texas Rangers team is very different from the one we talked about just two weeks ago that was fresh off a sweep by the Cleveland Indians. Since then, they’ve won 13 of their last 14 games, including a perfect 6-0 record against the Los Angeles Angels and a four-game sweep of the Houston Astros.

They’re pitching, they’re getting timely hitting, they’re manufacturing runs and, most of all, they’re winning games they should win.

In this addition of our Texas Rangers podcast, we talk about the move made to acquire outfielder Alex Rios from the Chicago White Sox, the suspension of Nelson Cruz and whether or not the Texas Rangers will allow Cruz to come back once his suspension is over. According to ESPN’s Pedro Gomez, the decision to let him play is unlikely to happen.

All that and the injury status of Matt Harrison and Neftali Feliz, and is there any chance either returns this season, on this addition of Scooping the Texas Rangers.
