Catcher Tim Federowicz elected free agency amidst the acquisition of Martin Maldonado trade, the Astros have announced. Federowicz is batting .206 this year in limited playing time while accumulating a negative .2 WAR on the year. He has only seven hits in 34 at bats.
Recent acquisition Martin Maldonado will take over as that limited duty action catcher, splitting time with often injured Brian McCann and Evan Gattis.
