Michael Young has reportedly spoken out and stated to a close souce of the Rangers stating that, he does not want to be a full time designated hitter.
3B Michael Young has spent all 11 years of his career with the texas Rangers. Unfortunately he has played almost every position on the team due to roster pick ups. The latest move he was asked to do was move from third to DH after the acquisition of Andrian Beltre.
Young had previously told reporters that he was okay with moving from third to help the team, but it seems as if his mind has changed after the Rangers traded for Mike Napoli. The acquisition of Napoli meant Young would lose time at first base and as the DH.
Young may just be getting sick of being moved around and being left out of the line up since he has made other moves to accommodate the Rangers. Young had previously moved from second base to shortstop for Alfonso Soriano in 2004 and from short to third base for Elvis Andrus in 2009.
Only time will tell if the Rangers will trade away Young. They’d be smart not to seeing that Young hit .284 with 21 homers and 91 RBIs in 157 games for a Rangers when the went to the world Series. He also only committed 19 errors at third last season, the same number as Beltre.
Young’s desire to be traded was first reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
