Last night, the Braves pulled off a trade to bring power hitting Adam Duvall to Atlanta. In exchange, they sent seemingly out of options Matt Wisler, Lucas Sims, and Preston Tucker to the Reds.
Duvall is a power bat capable of hitting 30 plus home runs each year, but has had less than ideal year batting .205 with 15 home runs. He will provide depth for the Braves, much like Preston Tucker, but will be insurance for the Braves in case they do not resign Nick Markakis or trade Ender Inciarte, who’s also having a down year.
Wisler, Sims and Tucker were all in the majors at some point this year. Tucker had an amazing start, then faltered. Wisler has had some OK starts here and there. And Sims hasn’t produced consistently in the bullpen or rotation. All three were former top prospects.
