Taking a look around the league, here’s a recap of last night’s action and suggestions for your fantasy baseball team. Suggestions? Let us know in the comment section.
Mr. Clutch (pitcher) – Adam Wainwright kept the struggling Washington Nationals down with 8.1 innings, five hits and nine strikeouts, while grabbing the win last night. Wainwright improved to 4-1 with a 1.93 ERA and a microscopic 0.99 WHIP.
Mr. Clutch (hitter) – Howie Kendrick knocked two home runs and four runs batted in while ending the 11-inning affair with his second walk-off home run. Kendrick is now batting .297 with 14 RBIs on the year.
Surprise, surprise! – Marwin Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a home run for the Houston Astros yesterday. Gonzalez has produced well for the Astros, batting .289 with three home runs on the year, playing at a highly demanding position in shortstop.
Here comes the heat – Pedro Alvarez, known as a streaky hitter, will make the “left out in the breeze” list often. But, Alvarez, is heating up; he’s 6-for-19 with three home runs during that span. Pedro homers in bunches, so grab him while you can, and sit him when he cools off.
Left out in the breeze – Pedro’s twin brother, Chris Carter, went through his heating up phase a few weeks ago, knocking four home runs out in a span of a couple days. Since then, Carter is 2-for-21 with 13 strikeouts. Ouch. He’s also losing playing time to Fernando Martinez.
Who’s trending? – Didi Gregorius has been a hot pickup as of late. The left-handed hitting shortstop is batting .400 with two home runs in the five games he’s played in for Arizona.
Bench me, please? – Seattle’s shortstop, Brendan Ryan is batting 1-for-18 in his last seven games, with only two hits in his last 28 at-bats.
