Posts like these aren’t easy to write. Former TTFB writer and Toronto Blue Jay minor-league player Ryan Shopshire was in an accident on Saturday, October 29. Shopshire was riding his bicycle, accompanying his fiance Danielle on her daily jog, when he was ran over by a car exiting a driveway.
Ryan debuted with Through The Fence Baseball during TTFB’s initial launch 10 months ago with “Talking Shop.” He was the first minor-league player who TTFB added, and he wrote about his journey up and down the minors that eventually ended in August. Shopshire was a very popular player and writer who fans loved to read about. His journey was a great story that fans got the opportunity to follow along with. It was a sad day when he was released and it was an even sadder day to read about his accident.
A visit Bengal Law website will tell you that Shopshire suffered a tragic break in his upper right arm and shoulder (did we mention he was a right-handed pitcher!); a broken sternum, scapula, clavicle, pelvis, numerous broken ribs, and severe burns to both legs.
Ryan is now on the recovery and is trying to rehabilitate at his parents home in California.
TTFB wishes Ryan Shopshire all the best as he works through this extremely tough time. We will attempt to raise some money for him to help cover the medical bills and rehab. San Antonio personal injury law firm has also taken special interest in the case. Please help by clicking on the donate button at the bottom.
