The New York Yankees are having one wild 2021 season. From the crazy moments such as the no hitter to the streakiest wins and losses. Watching this team all season to now with only three games left, it’s been indescribable. In recent news, this team has once again gotten hot, winning eight of their last ten. Some people have been putting their success on their newest “team member” Bronxie the turtle.
Bronxie Was Born
The age of Bronxie was born right before the Yankees crucial series against Boston. The Yankees traveled to Fenway Park with the newest member and walked out with a sweep. Giancarlo Stanton was the storyline of that series. Coming up with, probably, his biggest hit as a Yankee with the grand slam that made its way onto Lansdowne Street.
Yankees pitcher, Nestor Cortes, convinced the team to go out and get a pet for the clubhouse. The team chose a turtle who’s name is Bronxie. Bronxie has been roaming the Yankees clubhouse with guys such as DJ LeMahieu and Brett Gardner known to love the turtle. Bronxie has taken social media by storm, being the reason the team is ahead of the AL wildcard race by two games.
It Makes Sense
It’s crazy to say that a turtle maybe the reason this team is, yet again, on a hot streak but, statistically, they are. In the last ten games, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton have put this team on their backs and have been crushing it lately. Aaron Judge is coming up with huge hits in the clutch and Stanton is using his power in almost every AB. When those two are being the freaks of nature they are, it rubs off on the rest of the team. Gio Urshela, who is currently on a ten game hitting streak, has been playing great and even Gleyber Torres drove out a couple of home runs.
This team is once again going through a hot stint and there has been no better time for that to happen. Today, the Yankees are back in the Bronx starting a three game series against the American League’s best, Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees currently hold top seed in the craziest wild card race we’ve seen in quite some time. If the Yankees win today and the Red Sox or Mariners lose, the Yankees are in. Today will be an entire team effort back home trying to clinch a playoff spot. Including, Bronxie the turtle.
