2020 MLB Mock Draft: Emerson Hancock
As a second-year collegiate player in 2019, the 6-foot-4 RHP finished the campaign with a 1.99 and a 8-3 record with 14 appearances. He fanned 97 total batters and permitted only 18 walks in 90.1 innings of work.
His fastball lives in the high 90s and has truly nasty mid-80s slider. He is often compared to Casey Mize, who was picked first in the 2018 draft.
Carlos Collazo, writing for Baseball America, noted that Hancock has potential ‘plus pitches’ across the board and that his slider is the definition of ‘putaway pitch.’ As well Dan Zielenski III felt that he has true frontline starter potential.
