The Red Sox gained more insurance last night in landing Ian Kinsler and half his remaining salary. He’s due to reach free agency at season’s end. In exchange, Williams Jerez and Ty Buttrey will head to the Angels.
Buttrey and Jerez are both listed in the top 30 for the Boston Red Sox prospect list, but neither are in the top 100 overall.
Kinsler will no doubt give insurance at second base where Pedroia has been injured.
