Gabe Kapler drops by to talk about trade deadlines and Matt Garza

With just a few weeks left until the July 31 trade deadline, the Texas Rangers are in desperate need of fixing. With Nick Tepesch taking his turn on the disabled list, followed by Lance Berkman, and with Alexi Ogando, Colby Lewis, Matt Harrison and Neftali Feliz seemingly no closer to re-joining their teammates, the Rangers’ front office certainly has work to do.

There are so many possibilities and names for the front office to look over and consider, but they have to wonder just how much they’re willing to spend to fix the problems.

Do they overspend for a Matt Garza, or do they go the more conservative route and look at guys like Jake Peavy, Travis Wood or perhaps even Tim Hudson?

Speaking of Garza, former Texas Ranger Gabe Kapler stops by and talks firsthand about being traded and what the trade deadline is like for a player. He also talks about the rumors of Matt Garza being a bad clubhouse guy and being a former teammate of the right-hander with the Tampa Bay Rays over the last two years of Kapler’s career.

All that and much more on this addition of Scooping the Texas Rangers.
